Languages At French
At Cestria we place value on learning a modern foreign language at an early age and embracing other cultures and traditions. As part of our immersive day, children begin learning French in Year 3 and continue to do so throughout Key Stage 2, with one lesson per week timetabled for all.
French is taught in a very active way using a range of teaching and learning approaches to allow children to develop their spoken language, listening skills and writing ability. Each lesson caters for each of these learning opportunities through games, drama and projects.
Each half term, children tackle a new topic, progressing their knowledge of language and phonics to be able to build on previous learning. This enables them to make progress and fosters a love of languages.
