Curriculum – Music

Music At Cestria

The sound of music is all around at Cestria. From guitarists to violinists and ‘cellists to singers (and not forgetting everyone in Y5 who learners to play the ukulele!). It’s truly wonderful to see and hear our children enjoying music in and around school.

Through active listening, composing and improvising, performance and singing our children are provided with stimulating musical experiences from Reception to Year 6 that are designed to engage and inspire. Our music curriculum is underpinned with the skills and vocabulary that lead directly into secondary school syllabus content enabling our children to identify and discuss the building blocks of pulse, rhythm and melody (including notation).

Our children participate in numerous performances both within school and beyond. It just melts our hearts to see our children performing on stage whether it be as part of their nativity or during our performing arts shows – our children just love performing!
